Endowed Scholarship Income provided $525,000 or 10 full and 55 partial athletic scholarships in 2011-2012.

Endowed scholarships to athletics are a crucial source of funding for Georgetown University.  Endowed funds provide long-term financial support, while helping us investment in our most important asset - the Georgetown student-athlete. Endowed Scholarship List

The Class of 1998 Men's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Class of 1998 Men's Lacrosse alumni Steve Iorio (B'98), Matthew Cassin (C'98), Matt Pappas (B'98), Dan Shea (F'98), and Ryan Toland (C'98) to honor their experience as members of Georgetown's men's lacrosse team. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Brennan Bicknese (C'13), Men's Lacrosse

The Alfond Family Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Harry Alfond, the founder of Dexter Shoe Company. The Alfond Family is affiliated with the University through his two grandsons Daniel Alfond Pearl (C'92) and David Alfond Pearl (C'90). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program, with preference for a student-athlete from New England.

2012-13 Recipient: Patrick Murray (B'13), Men's Lacrosse

The Athletics/MSB Endowed Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of a parent of a student-athlete who wishes to remain anonymous. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes with a preference for a leader who is enrolled in the McDonough School of Business.

2012-13 Recipient: Alexander Baker (B'14), Baseball

The Richard F. Barry Memorial Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Richard K. Barry (C'59) in memory of his father, Richard F. Barry. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's golf program.

The Edwin Beachler Track Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of former track student-athlete Edwin Beachler (C'62). A former member of the Hoyas Unlimited Board, Ed has helped support track throughout the years. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the track program.

2012-13 Recipient: Andrew Springer (C'13), Men's Track

The Mary Taylor Behrens, C'83 Women's Track Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of former track student-athlete Mary Taylor Behrens (C'83) and was the first fully endowed scholarship commitment in the history of Georgetown Athletics. Mary has served as the chair of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's track program.

2012-13 Recipient: Emily Jones (B'13), Women's Track

The Della C. Bozzo Memorial Men's Basketball Manager Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Theresa D. and Alfred R. Bozzo, Jr. (B'85) in memory of his mother, Della C. Bozzo. Al is a long standing volunteer for Hoyas Unlimited and serves as president of the Hoya Hoop Club. The scholarship is awarded to a student who serves as a manager for the men's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Patrick Kenny (C'13), Men's Basketball Manager

The Francis B. Brogan Football Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Francis B. Brogan Jr. (B'71, L'74, LLM'77) and his family in honor of their father and grandfather Francis B. Brogan (C'29, M'33). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Mike Roland (B'15), Football

The Father Bunn, S.J. Football Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Gridiron Club in memory of Fr. Edward B. Bunn, S.J., a long-time supporter of Georgetown's football program and President of Georgetown University 1952-1964. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

The Cassin Family Men's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of men's lacrosse Joyce and Joseph (C'64) Cassin. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Travis Comeau (C'13), Men's Lacrosse

The Thomas E. Curtis, Jr. Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Marge and Tom Curtis in honor of their son, the late Tom, Jr. (B'68), a Hall of Fame Sailor at Georgetown. For such time as the granting of this scholarship is disallowed by the rules of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association, it is the donor's intent that this scholarship be granted to one or more student-athletes who participate in Georgetown Athletics, with a preference for a women's lacrosse player from New England.

2012-13 Recipient: Shelby Aubin (B'16), Women's Lacrosse

The Robert E. Daniels Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Elizabeth and John A. (B'76) Collins in honor of her father, Robert E. Daniels. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's soccer or women's tennis programs.

2012-13 Recipient: Vicky Sekely (N'13), Women's Tennis

The Donald J. Donahue Minor Sport Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Carol and Donald J. (C'47) Donahue. Both are long-time friends and supporters of Georgetown Athletics. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes at Georgetown University.

2012-13 Recipient: Lauren O'Leary (B'15), Softball

The Joseph Eacobacci Memorial Football Scholarship:

This scholarship was created through memorial gifts in honor of Joseph Eacobacci (C'96), who lost his life in the World Trade Center Tragedy. Joe was captain of the football team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Jordan Richardson (C'15), Football

The John P. Esposito, Sr. Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of men's lacrosse alumnus John P. Esposito, Jr. (B'92) and his wife Dawn Fitzpatrick in honor of his father, John P. Esposito, Sr. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Brian Casey (B'13), Men's Lacrosse

The Thomas E. Galvin Memorial Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was created through memorial gifts in honor of Thomas E. Galvin (B'90), who lost his life in the World Trade Center Tragedy. Tom was captain of the men's golf team and served as president of the 19th Hole Club. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's golf program.

The Joseph T. Gardner Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Theresa and Michael R. (C'64, L'77) Gardner in memory of Mr. Joseph T. Gardner (C'30). The scholarship is awarded each year to a female student-athlete, with demonstrated financial need, who is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

2012-13 Recipient: Lindsay Wise (C'13), Volleyball

The Goldman Sachs Scholars Fund:

This scholarship was created through the generosity of men's soccer alumnus Michael Graziano (B'88). The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's soccer program and has demonstrated financial need.

2012-13 Recipient: Tommy Muller (B'13), Men's Soccer

The Gordon Family Women's Track Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the late Donald J. Gordon, Sr., in honor of his granddaughter, former track athlete Kristen Gordon Henehan (C'01). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the women's track program.

2012-13 Recipient: Kirsten Kasper (B'13), Women's Track

The Graham Family Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Druscilla and Thomas M. (C'63) Graham. Tom was captain of the men's golf team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's golf program, with a preference for those enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The J. Kevin Kenny Family Women's Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Martha and J. Kevin (C'58) Kenny and is the first endowed scholarship for women's golf. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the women's golf program.

2012-13 Recipient: Audrey Dalton (C'13), Women's Golf

The John E. Kenny, Sr. Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Heidi and Gerry (B'71) Kenny, in honor of his father John E. Kenny, Sr. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's golf program with a preference for those enrolled in the McDonough School of Business.

2012-13 Recipient: Brian Tohir (C'15), Men's Golf

The Kindfuller Family Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Kenwyn and Andrew (C'83, L'86) Kindfuller and is awarded to one or more African-American student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in varsity athletic programs other than men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track, or football.

2012-13 Recipient: Gabriel Padilla (B'14), Men's Soccer

The C.E. Laborde, Jr. Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of brothers Ted Laborde (C'59), Cliffe Laborde (C'75), and Kevin Laborde (B'78) in honor of their father, C.E. Laborde, Jr. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes at Georgetown University.

2012-13 Recipient: Omar Kaddurah (C'15), Men's Track

The Leonsis Men's Basketball Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Lynn and Ted (C'77) Leonsis. Ted serves as a member of Georgetown's Board of Directors and is the founder, chairman and majority owner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Markel Starks (C'14), Men's Basketball

The Leonsis Women's Basketball Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Lynn and Ted (C'77) Leonsis. Ted serves as a member of Georgetown's Board of Directors and is the founder, chairman and majority owner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the women's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Ta'Shauna (Sugar) Rodgers (C'13), Women's Basketball

The Lindmor Scholars Fund:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Hoya parent Arthur Reimers and his daughter Megan Reimers (C'07). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program with a preference for those enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Edward W. Machir Family Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Ed Machir (B'74). Ed has been a long time supporter of Georgetown Athletics and has served as President of Hoyas Unlimited. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who are enrolled in the McDonough School of Business.

2012-13 Recipient: Sean Campbell (B'12), Football

The Sanford R. Mautner, F'61 Memorial Football Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the late Sanford Mautner (F'61). Mr. Mautner was a long-time supporter of Georgetown Athletics. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

The Joseph and Margaret Lang & Edward and Rita McCarthy Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of an anonymous donor in honor of the parents of Joe Lang and his wife Mary. Joe served Georgetown for many years as Director of Athletics and they, as Hoya parents, have been long-time supporters of the university. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who come from a family of six or more children.

The McBride Family Men's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the McBride Family Foundation and Michael X. McBride (L'78) in recognition of his family's long-standing support of Georgetown Athletics and its men's and women's lacrosse programs. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Tyler Knarr (C'13), Men's Lacrosse

The McBride Family Women's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the McBride Family Foundation and Michael X. McBride (L'78) in recognition of his family's long-standing support of Georgetown Athletics and its men's and women's lacrosse programs. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Corinne Etchison (N'16), Women's Lacrosse

The Dr. Charles P. Melone, Sr. Memorial Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Charles P. Melone, Jr. (C'64, M'69) in honor of his father Charles P. Melone, Sr. (C'31, M'35). Dr. Melone has served as a member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents and is a long-time supporter of Georgetown Athletics. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, with a preference for those with an interest in pre-med.

2012-13 Recipient: Max Darrah (C'14), Men's Track

The Bill Mitchell, F'50 Track Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Florence Mitchell in honor of her husband, former track athlete and Hall of Famer Bill Mitchell (F'50). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participates in the men's track program with a preference for a hurdler.

2012-13 Recipient: Dylan Sorenson (B'13), Men's Track

The Moran Family 3rd Century Crew Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Judy (N'68) and Ned (B'67) Moran, in honor of the entire Moran family. Ned was a former rower and long-time donor to crew. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's crew program with a preference for a lightweight rower.

The Mary P. Mullen Memorial Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mary and Jack (B'58) Donahue, in memory of his late aunt, former teacher Mary P. Mullen. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in one of the following athletics programs: baseball, men's or women's crew, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's or women's soccer, men's or women's swimming, men's or women's tennis, or women's track. Preference is given to student-athletes one of whose parents or guardians is in the field of education.

The Peter P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through memorial gifts in honor of Peter P. Murphy (C'87) and is the first endowed scholarship for men's soccer. Peter served as manager of the men's soccer team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's soccer program.

2012-13 Recipient: Ian Christianson (B'13), Men's Soccer

The Thomas and Barbara Napolitano Men's Basketball Scholarship:

This scholarship was established by Barbara and Thomas (C'69) Napolitano and was the first fully-endowed scholarship for men's basketball. The Napolitano's are long-time supporters of Georgetown Men's Basketball. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Jabril Trawick (C'15), Men's Basketball

The Robert B. Nolan, C'38 Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Elizabeth and Robert B. Nolan, Jr. (B'74) in honor of his father Robert B. Nolan (C'38). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Robert McCabe (B'13), Football

The Carolyn and Roger O'Neill Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Carolyn and Roger (C'59) O'Neill. Carolyn and Roger have long supported Georgetown's men's and women's lacrosse programs and Roger is a former member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Hannah Franklin (B'14), Women's Lacrosse

The Paluszek Family Men's Basketball Scholarship:

This scholarship was established by Violeta and Stephen (B'79) Paluszek. Steve is a long time supporter of Georgetown Athletics, a former member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents, and co-chair of the Wall Street Alliance Board of Advisors. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Nate Lubick (B'14), Men's Basketball

The Anthony, Kristin, and Reagan Raneri Women's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Anthony Raneri (M'71) in honor of his daughters Reagan (C'01) and Kristin (C'02), both of whom are former members of the women's lacrosse team. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program, with a preference for those who play defense.

2012-13 Recipient: Elizabeth Holland (F'15), Women's Lacrosse

The Kevin D. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through memorial gifts in honor of Kevin D. Reynolds (C'84). Kevin was a member of the football team during his time on the Hilltop, and was a retired decorated US Naval Officer. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Isaiah Kempf (B'13), Football

The Joan T. Rienzo Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of alumni, family, and friends in honor of the late Joan T. Rienzo, wife of Director of Athletics Emeritus Francis X. Rienzo. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, excluding those who participate in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track, and football, and are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Nursing and Health Studies.

2012-13 Recipient: Anne Wilson (C'13), Field Hockey

The Ed and Irene Shaw Women's Soccer Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Irene and L. Edward (C'66) Shaw and is the first endowed scholarship for women's soccer. Ed and Irene have both served on the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents. The scholarship is awarded to one or student-athletes who participate in the women's soccer program.

2012-13 Recipient: Daphne Corboz (C'15), Women's Soccer

The Winsor and Mary Jane Simmons Scholarship:

This scholarship was established in honor of Mary Jane and Winsor Simmons through the generosity of their children Tracie and Brian (B'81) Simmons, Ellen and Bruce (B'69) Simmons, and Elizabeth and Bradley (B'74) Simmons. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Dalen Claytor (C'14), Football

The Kimberly Simons Women's Lacrosse Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the late Melanie Taylor, parent of Margaret Farland (C'07), who was a member of the women's lacrosse team. The scholarship was established to honor long-time women's lacrosse head coach, Kimberly Simons. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program.

2012-13 Recipient: Erin Lovett (S'13), Women's Lacrosse

The Peter L. Smith Family Football Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of parents Marie and Peter L. Smith in honor of their family. The Smith family is affiliated with Georgetown through daughter Bettina (C'02). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program.

2012-13 Recipient: Craig Montgomery (C'13), Football

The Mark "Buddy" Stuart Golf Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mark J. "Buddy" Stuart (B'60). Buddy and his wife, Karen, are long-time supporters of Georgetown Athletics. The scholarship is awarded to one or more recruited undergraduate students participating in the men's golf program.

The Marc H. Sulam Men's Basketball Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Marc H. Sulam (B'84). Marc is a current member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents and the Wall Street Alliance Board of Advisors. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program.

2012-13 Recipient: Otto Porter (C'15), Men's Basketball

The Patrick Sullivan Memorial Track Scholarship:

This scholarship was created through memorial gifts in honor of Patrick Sullivan (B'91), who lost his life in the World Trade Center Tragedy. Patrick was a member of the men's track team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's track program with a preference for students who come from a family involved in public service (e.g. firefighter or police or EMT).

2012-13 Recipient: William Ledder (C'14), Men's Track

The Vespoli Family Crew Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Nancy and Michael (B'68) Vespoli. Mike is a former member of the men's crew team, a world-class rower and a 1972 Olympian. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's crew program.

The Donal M. Walsh, Sr. Athletic Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Maura (N'76) and Brian (B'76) Devaney in honor of her father Donal M. Walsh. Brian and Maura are long-time friends and supporters of Georgetown Athletics. The scholarship is awarded to a female student-athlete enrolled in the School of Nursing and Health Studies or the McDonough School of Business.

2012-13 Recipients: Kaitlin Brenn (B'14), Women's Soccer

The John and Marybeth Wooters Swimming Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Marybeth (N'75) and John (C'75) Wooters. John has served as a member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents, as president of Hoyas Unlimited, and as a coach of the swimming program. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes participating in the swimming program.

The Tagliabue Women's Athletics Scholarship:

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Chandler and Paul (C'62) Tagliabue. Paul serves as a chairman of Georgetown's Board of Directors and is the former commissioner of the National Football League (NFL). The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in women's varsity athletics.

This scholarship was established through the generosity of Chandler and Paul (C'62) Tagliabue. Paul serves as a chairman of Georgetown's Board of Directors and  is the former commissioner of the National Football League (NFL). The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in men's varsity athletics.
