The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program. 2012-13 Recipient: Brennan Bicknese (C'13), Men's Lacrosse The Alfond Family Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Harry Alfond, the founder of Dexter Shoe Company. The Alfond Family is affiliated with the University through his two grandsons Daniel Alfond Pearl (C'92) and David Alfond Pearl (C'90). The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's lacrosse program, with preference for a student-athlete from New England. 2012-13 Recipient: Patrick Murray (B'13), Men's Lacrosse The Athletics/MSB Endowed Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of a parent of a student-athlete who wishes to remain anonymous. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes with a preference for a leader who is enrolled in the McDonough School of Business. 2012-13 Recipient: Alexander Baker (B'14), Baseball The Richard F. Barry Memorial Golf Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Richard K. Barry (C'59) in memory of his father, Richard F. Barry. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's golf program. 2012-13 Recipients: The Edwin Beachler Track Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of former track student-athlete Edwin Beachler (C'62). A former member of the Hoyas Unlimited Board, Ed has helped support track throughout the years. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the track program. 2012-13 Recipient: Andrew Springer (C'13), Men's Track The Mary Taylor Behrens, C'83 Women's Track Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of former track student-athlete Mary Taylor Behrens (C'83) and was the first fully endowed scholarship commitment in the history of Georgetown Athletics. Mary has served as the chair of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's track program. 2012-13 Recipient: Emily Jones (B'13), Women's Track The Della C. Bozzo Memorial Men's Basketball Manager Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Theresa D. and Alfred R. Bozzo, Jr. (B'85) in memory of his mother, Della C. Bozzo. Al is a long standing volunteer for Hoyas Unlimited and serves as president of the Hoya Hoop Club. Brogan Football Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Francis B. Brogan Jr. (B'71, L'74, LLM'77) and his family in honor of their father and grandfather Francis B. Football Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Gridiron Club in memory of Fr. Edward B. Bunn, S.J., a long-time supporter of Georgetown's football program and President of Georgetown University 1952-1964. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program. 2012-13 Recipient: Nick Campanella (C'14), Football The Cassin Family Men's Lacrosse Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of men's lacrosse Joyce and Joseph (C'64) Cassin. Curtis, Jr. Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Marge and Tom Curtis in honor of their son, the late Tom, Jr. (B'68), a Hall of Fame Sailor at Georgetown. For such time as the granting of this scholarship is disallowed by the rules of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association, it is the donor's intent that this scholarship be granted to one or more student-athletes who participate in Georgetown Athletics, with a preference for a women's lacrosse player from New England. 2012-13 Recipient: Shelby Aubin (B'16), Women's Lacrosse The Robert E. Daniels Athletic Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Elizabeth and John A. (B'76) Collins in honor of her father, Robert E. Daniels. Donahue Minor Sport Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Carol and Donald J. (C'47) Donahue. Both are long-time friends and supporters of Georgetown Athletics. Joe was captain of the football team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participates in the men's track program with a preference for a hurdler. 2012-13 Recipient: Dylan Sorenson (B'13), Men's Track The Moran Family 3rd Century Crew Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Judy (N'68) and Ned (B'67) Moran, in honor of the entire Moran family. Ned was a former rower and long-time donor to crew. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the men's crew program with a preference for a lightweight rower. 2012-13 Recipients: The Mary P. Mullen Memorial Athletic Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mary and Jack (B'58) Donahue, in memory of his late aunt, former teacher Mary P. Mullen. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in one of the following athletics programs: baseball, men's or women's crew, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's or women's soccer, men's or women's swimming, men's or women's tennis, or women's track. Preference is given to student-athletes one of whose parents or guardians is in the field of education. 2012-13 Recipient: Laura Thistle (C'13), Field Hockey The Peter P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship:This scholarship was established through memorial gifts in honor of Peter P. Murphy (C'87) and is the first endowed scholarship for men's soccer. Peter served as manager of the men's soccer team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's soccer program. 2012-13 Recipient: Ian Christianson (B'13), Men's Soccer The Thomas and Barbara Napolitano Men's Basketball Scholarship:This scholarship was established by Barbara and Thomas (C'69) Napolitano and was the first fully-endowed scholarship for men's basketball. The Napolitano's are long-time supporters of Georgetown Men's Basketball. The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program. 2012-13 Recipient: Jabril Trawick (C'15), Men's Basketball The Robert B. Nolan, C'38 Athletic Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Elizabeth and Robert B. Nolan, Jr. (B'74) in honor of his father Robert B. Nolan (C'38). Steve is a long time supporter of Georgetown Athletics, a former member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents, and co-chair of the Wall Street Alliance Board of Advisors. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship:This scholarship was established through memorial gifts in honor of Kevin D. Reynolds (C'84). Kevin was a member of the football team during his time on the Hilltop, and was a retired decorated US Naval Officer. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the football program. 2012-13 Recipient: Isaiah Kempf (B'13), Football The Joan T. Rienzo Athletic Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of alumni, family, and friends in honor of the late Joan T. Rienzo, wife of Director of Athletics Emeritus Francis X. Rienzo. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, excluding those who participate in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track, and football, and are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Nursing and Health Studies. 2012-13 Recipient: Anne Wilson (C'13), Field Hockey The Ed and Irene Shaw Women's Soccer Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Irene and L. Edward (C'66) Shaw and is the first endowed scholarship for women's soccer. Ed and Irene have both served on the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents. The scholarship was established to honor long-time women's lacrosse head coach, Kimberly Simons. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes who participate in the women's lacrosse program. 2012-13 Recipient: Erin Lovett (S'13), Women's Lacrosse The Peter L. Smith Family Football Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of parents Marie and Peter L. Smith in honor of their family. The Smith family is affiliated with Georgetown through daughter Bettina (C'02). The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in the men's basketball program. 2012-13 Recipient: Otto Porter (C'15), Men's Basketball The Patrick Sullivan Memorial Track Scholarship:This scholarship was created through memorial gifts in honor of Patrick Sullivan (B'91), who lost his life in the World Trade Center Tragedy. Patrick was a member of the men's track team during his time on the Hilltop. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's track program with a preference for students who come from a family involved in public service (e.g. firefighter or police or EMT). 2012-13 Recipient: William Ledder (C'14), Men's Track The Vespoli Family Crew Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Nancy and Michael (B'68) Vespoli. Mike is a former member of the men's crew team, a world-class rower and a 1972 Olympian. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes, with demonstrated financial need, who participate in the men's crew program. 2012-13 Recipients: The Donal M. Walsh, Sr. Athletic Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Maura (N'76) and Brian (B'76) Devaney in honor of her father Donal M. Walsh. John has served as a member of the Athletics Committee of the University Board of Regents, as president of Hoyas Unlimited, and as a coach of the swimming program. The scholarship is awarded to one or more student-athletes participating in the swimming program. 2012-13 Recipient: Lauren Opatrny (C'14), Swimming The Tagliabue Women's Athletics Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Chandler and Paul (C'62) Tagliabue. Paul serves as a chairman of Georgetown's Board of Directors and is the former commissioner of the National Football League (NFL). The scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participates in women's varsity athletics. 2012-13 Recipient: Andrea White (C'14), Women's Basketball The Tagliabue Men's Athletics Scholarship:This scholarship was established through the generosity of Chandler and Paul (C'62) Tagliabue.
