Hello Hoya fans!

I'm typing from my seat in the pressbox at Yurcak Field on what is possibly the nicest night of the year. It's about 65 degrees, slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky. Somewhat shocking that we had to go to New Jersey for the nicest climate during the lacrosse season.

Interestingly enough there is a decent-sized group of youth lacrosse players who have become huge Georgetown fans for the evening. Right now they are standing in the front of the stands behind the Hoyas bench cheering on the guys through warm ups. Most interestingly, the loudest of our new Georgetown fans is wearing a Syracuse jersey and shorts. I'm wishing I traveled with some spare GU t-shirts for that poor kid. I blame his parents.

Tonight's game is a great opportunity for Georgetown to snap out of a three-game losing streak. The Hoyas have never lost to Rutgers in 13 previous games and GU would need this game along with next week's to avoid finishing under .500 for the first time since 1989 (the year prior to Dave Urick's arrival on the Hilltop).

The Blue & Gray will have to do it against a Rutgers team that is the best face-off unit in the BIG EAST at .593 percent. Christopher Mattes has won .655 of his face-off attempts this season. Georgetown will counter with Brian Tabb, who is five face-off wins away from moving into third place in Hoya history.

Other notes: The PA announcer here is really good. Great voice, kind of gives the game the feel of a championship boxing match. I'd put him in a similar class with Georgetown's very own Kondi Kleinman for best PA voices that I've heard in my travels. The guy here has the opening tagline of "Let's Get This Game Underway." Very similar to a certain line made famous by Michael Buffer. I approve.

Also, Randi Larson the Senior Academic Advisor at Rutgers and wife of former Georgetown Associate SID Ben Shove stopped by to say hello.

Back with the starting lineups and more after the jump...

LIVE BLOG! Saturday at Penn Relays! JA-MAI-CA!

It's the Saturday of Penn Relays - one of my favorite days of the year. It's the day where I wish I was Jamaican ... well, there are a lot of days that I wish I was Jamaican, but this is definitely the day where I wish it the most. We've got a lot going on here at Franklin Field today and even though there are a couple of clouds in the sky, the sun is finally shining down on the spectators. Hoya Saxa - let's root for a solid day on the track for the Blue & Gray and we even get a showcase of some of the best track athletes in the world as today will also have the famed "USA vs. the World" races!

It's a nice cool day at Franklin Field with clouds rolling in and out and the temperature climbing no higher than 70 degrees today. The wind is bringing the clouds in and we are ready for an exciting day of track! I'm sitting next to Father John Pierce who has decided to call me "Georgetown" ... after the last hour of conversation, he finally asked my name and told him "Diana ... but you can keep calling me 'Georgetown.'"

LIVE BLOG: Penn Relays Distance Night 2011

Someone once said to me, "It always rains at Penn Relays." Luckily, I've always been able to say, "Really? That's never been the case for me!" Well, it's now my fourth Penn Relays and I'm experiencing my first real rain delay. To be fair, I've been here while we've had it drizzle on distance night, but it's never quite put a damper on the events. I've tried to save my laptop from a quick storm but the runners kept going. But, this year was a little different. We are "unofficially" 90 minutes behind schedule.

Hello from lovely South Bend, Indiana!  Most of the time, people would think I am being sarcastic when I say this, however, today I can honestly say that it is a beautiful day.  Sunny, 60 degrees, a little wind, a perfect day to play lacrosse.

BLUE & GRAY FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE GAMEDAY BLOG

Welcome to the BLUE & GRAY SPRING FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE BLOG!

The weather is certainly a lot nicer than what it would have been for the originally scheduled game time (yesterday at 3 p.m.). With the nice weather comes a nice crowd.

There are a ton of former Hoyas here today, including new Gridiron Club President Bruce Simmons, former President and current head of the mentorship program Jim Lenihan, as well as Ataefiok Etukeren, a few former No. 35's in Nick Umar and Nick Parrish (the program's all-time leading tackler in case you forgot). Also it is nice to see so many of this year's seniors, like Paul Sant'Ambrogio, who is sitting right in front of the pressbox. Dan Semler and Erik Antico are here, down the stands a little way is Keerome Lawrence, Danny Thompson, Jr., Gyasi Parrish and Philip Oladeji.

Probably a few hundred people in attendance as we get closer to the start of the game, a nice crowd considering the game is traditionally on the same day as the team's award banquet, which was held yesterday.

Georgetown's new captains are SLOT Jeremiah Kayal and safety Wayne Heimuli. Kayal will not play today, but Heimuli is suited up on the blue (defensive) sideline. The offense will be wearing gray.

I'll be back with more from today's game after the jump...
