DIG PINK!, Office EFX and LL Cool J

From time to time I will try to add something heartfelt or life-changing in addition to the normal Georgetown Athletics information I try to provide through this blog. Mark this in the life-changing category.

**** This site was discovered by former sports information graduate assistant Jessica Palermo about a year ago (Thanks Jess!) and provided countless hours of fun within the sports information office at Georgetown. With the click of a button you can accentuate mistakes, pointless stories or awkward moments created by co-workers. It's also good practice if you are ever interested in working sound effects in a press box at an athletic event.

Back to the serious stuff...Tonight, the Georgetown Volleyball team will be hosting its Second Annual DIG PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Match at 7 p.m. at McDonough Arena when they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers. Fans attending will receive pink t-shirts, while students will receive double Hoya Rewards points. The Georgetown University Breast Cancer Outreach group will also be on hand to distribute information. A special thanks goes out to assistant coach Lynnette Moster along with marketing assistant Vaughan Moss and marketing director Greg Driscoll for putting everything together.

On the court tonight, the Hoyas volleyball team will attempt to take their third straight match from Pittsburgh in three years. The team's have played two five-set thrillers in the previous two years, with the Hoyas, who are 1-3 in conference looking to get back on track.

For Georgetown: Vanessa Dorismond - In her last two matches against Pittsburgh Dorsimond has combined for 26 kills and a .314 hitting efficiency. Dorismond is currently eighth in the BIG EAST hitting .310 this season.

For Pittsburgh: Meagan Dooley - Dooley has been among the best players in the conference thus far, earning two consecutive BIG EAST Player of the Week honors, while placing second in the conference with a .380 hitting efficiency. Dooley helped lead the Panthers past defending BIG EAST champ Louisville last weekend with 22 kills, while hitting .487.

The field hockey team will also be taking on No. 6 Syracuse today. The Orange defeated the Hoyas 16-0 a season ago, so Georgetown will be looking to make a statement.

PLAYERS TO WATCH (if you happen to be hanging around J.S. Coyne Field at Syracuse today).

For Georgetown: Clodagh Coghlan - Coghlan has been put to the test several times early on in her freshman season and has responded well, leading the BIG EAST in saves, though her biggest test will likely be in the form of Syracuse's offense. It will also be interesting to see how Georgetown's group of underclassmen respond to the No. 6 team in the country.

For Syracuse: Lindsay Conrad - Conrad, the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, enters the game with nine goals and five assists. While she will not have to carry Syracuse's offense, as the Orange have four other players with 12 or more points, Conrad had a goal and two assists in the Orange's two top-20 victories last weekend. Conrad had a goal and an assist against GU last season.

Finally, while I was listening to this jam earlier today to help myself get motivated for a weekend of stats and recap writing, I felt it would be nice of me to share with you to help you all get hyped up for a weekend of Georgetown athletics...ENJOY!
