It's a rainy day in the Nation's Capital, but it's an exciting

There's always a sense of anticipation that comes with a season opener and there's always a bit of a rushed feeling when you are heading out on the road.
The office is pretty quiet today. I came in a bit late so I could drop my daughter off at school and get packed and ready for the trip. I will drive over with Associate Athletics Director Dan O'Neil and we'll meet Bill Shapland, Jim Gilroy and Rich Chvotkin, who begins his 35th year of broadcasting Hoya basketball, at the airport.
This will be the first visit to the state of
Speaking of food, I know that I am most definitely looking
forward to sampling some of the native cuisine.

Like most weekends around the sports information office, it
will be a busy one for all of us. Barb
Jonas took today off, but hits the road with the women's basketball tomorrow as
they open the season this weekend at
I am returning Saturday morning early so I can get back in time for the football game, as the Hoyas host No. 4 Richmond. It will be a tough test for the team, no question. I wrote about it earlier this week, but the attitudes and excitement of the members of our football team - from players to coaches - really impresses me.
