As for the women, they continued to play one of the most exciting games fans have seen in years forcing 32 turnovers in a huge 73-56 victory over Wake Forest. The win was significant for a number of reasons. We defeated the Demon Deacons after beating them at their place last season in the WNIT, we knew that this loss was fresh in their minds. Also, traditionally, the women have struggled against ACC opponents so this victory was important as we are scheduled to meet both NC State and Clemson later this month.
Finally, this was one of the biggest non-conference games of the season in regards to fans. It was our first home game with the students around and one of the few chances to get people excited before BIG EAST. We added a DJ and some promotions for atmosphere and the band and cheerleaders were outstanding. A number of people that were there told me it was one of the more exciting women's games they'd seen in a while.
That being said, we want to keep the excitement surrounding the women going. Those who have seen the team can attest to the fact that we have some quick guards and our pace results in some spectacular plays. Now I reach out to you the fans, what can we do to get more people to the women's games to see what a talented group we have this season?
Don't forget, we play Southwest Baptist on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Hope to see everyone there!
