Am I back from Chicago and Milwaukee Yet?

It's past 3 in the afternoon - about 12 hours after I got home from Milwaukee - and while it is Thursday, I really have no concept of what day it is.  I guess it's a combination of still being in a holiday hangover and then having a five-day road trip with the men's basketball team on top of the start of 2010.  To say that the last week was a whirlwind for anyone associated with the men's basketball program would be a vast understatement.

The BIG EAST season finally got underway last week, with the Hoyas tipping things off nearly at the start of 2010, with an 8 p.m. game against long-time rival St. John's on New Year's Eve.

We were able to celebrate that win on Thursday night, but we were back to work on Friday with interviews and game notes having to be done before departing for the Midwest.

The team flew out of the cold and windy conditions at Reagan on Saturday afternoon and we arrived in the even colder and windier conditions at O'Hare.  The temperature listed when we arrived was -1, and that was before factoring in the wind chill.  At least it wasn't snowing.

Obviously, winning in Chicago - a 67-50 win over DePaul - made the first part of the trip better.  Rather than travel all the way back home only to return to Milwaukee for Wednesday night's game at Marquette, the team stayed in Chicago until Tuesday morning.

The team was able to take advantage of the time in Chicago and went to see the Bulls play the Oklahoma City Thunder, featuring former Georgetown All-American Jeff Green.  Two of my travel companions - official scorekeeper Jim Gilroy and assistant ticket manager Maurice Wharton - joined me at the game, with a pregame dinner at the Twisted Spoke, a Chicago biker bar/restaurant...which was rather cool.

Everyone drove up to Milwaukee on Tuesday and flew back home last night after a tough loss to the Golden Eagles.  From the weather reports, it sounds like we made it out just in time, as the Midwest was getting hit with nearly a foot of snow.

There is little time to rest.  The men's hoop team is back to practice today and folks from ESPN will be in for some interviews tomorrow ahead of the matchup with No. 13 Connecticut on Saturday.

Me?  I'm going to do some game notes, take a nap and figure out what day it is.
