Oh Henry!

Don't worry Hoya fans, we made it to Pittsburgh.  Unlike the men's team which is still trying to find a way out of Providence we left yesterday morning in order to beat the storm.  Our wonderful bus driver Henry made it through some dicey weather on the drive here and some even more questionable conditions trying to get up snowy hills on the way to shoot around, but we made it.

We're entering a crucial point to the season with three top-10 opponents on our slate in the coming weeks.  After tonight's battle at Pitt, we head to West Virginia to take on the No. 9/8 Mountaineers on Sunday.  The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU as part of ESPN's February Frenzy to support The V Foundation.

With some tough opponents on the horizon, every game becomes even more important since it will directly impact our seeding in the BIG EAST Tourament.  The top four seeds receive byes in the first two rounds which can make a huge different in the grueling tournament.

Although it may not look like it outside, spring is just around the corner and women's lacrosse has been practicing preparing for the opener in late February.  The team is strong, returning a pair of All-Americans in Molly Ford and Ashby Kaestner.  However, the loss of the entire starting defense due to graduation will be felt and must be compensated for.

Georgetown was selected to win the BIG EAST in the Preseason Coaches Poll and has been ranked in the top ten in all three preseason rankings.

Off the field, congratulations to Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach Erin Hellmold and her husband on the arrival of a healthy baby boy early Saturday morning right in the thick of the blizzard.  It's always exciting to welcome someone new into the Hoya family.

We hope everyone stays warm and tunes in for the huge matchup on Sunday!
