| No Comments | No TrackBacks

It's been a solid morning for the Georgetown University sailing team (GUST for those who don't know).  We've struggled with changing wind and sometimes no wind but as we were able to get the final races in this morning, Georgetown is definitely in the final four!

2:06 p.m. UPDATE!  Hoyas finish third in the ICSA / APS Team Race National Sailing Championships!

Well, the Georgetown tent was definitely standing on the benches to get the best vantage point in the last race.  In a VERY close race, the Hoyas defeated Charleston by taking two, three, four. Incredibly tense and incredibly talented by our Hoyas.  The win puts Georgetown in third place overall for the national championships!  Congratulations to our Hoyas!

1:40 p.m. UPDATE!

The Hoyas went out and defeated Boston College in race two but fell to St. Mary's in race three.  They still have to face Charleston in race six!  Stay tuned for more updates!

ORIGINAL POST BEGINS HERE

With sailing ending last night due to a lack of wind, Georgetown was back on the water this morning in the first race of the day against host University of Wisconsin.  The Hoyas defeated Wisconsin and only had Charleston left to face.  A win over Charleston solidified their spot in the final four today along with St. Mary's, Boston College and Charleston.

With a quick break for lunch, the final four will commence on Lake Mendota.  With a six race lineup, the Hoyas will be on the water for races two, three and six.  Here is the lineup for the remaining races in the championship - the colors in parenthesis are the sail colors if you choose to follow the live videostream):

Race 1: St. Mary's (Red) vs. Charleston (Blue)

Race 2: Boston College (Yellow) vs. Georgetown (Green)

Race 3: St. Mary's (Red) vs. Georgetown (Green)

Race 4: Boston College (Yellow) vs. Charleston (Blue)

Race 5: St. Mary's (Red) vs. Boston College (Yellow)

Race 6: Georgetown (Green) vs. Charleston (Blue)

Stay tuned for updates!
