Wednesday Night Lights has been the theme of the week here in the office. After a thrilling Homecoming victory for the football team, we have now started focusing on some big games this week including the men's soccer team's matchup against Adelphi on North Kehoe Field.
This is just my third year at Georgetown but I actually feel like I have a lot to say about playing under the lights.
The lights went up in the spring of 2008 just in time for us to host the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Championship. The first night game was played on April 4 against Syracuse in a huge conference battle. The Hoyas came away with the 11-10 victory in a four-overtime thriller to capture the top seed in the conference tournament.
The women went on to defeat Louisville under the lights, 21-12, in the semifinals of the tournament.
This season, the women downed Loyola (Md.), 13-12, in double overtime in another exciting regular-season night game.
I know that both football and men's lacrosse have played evening games, but I like to think that since they're both my teams, that some of women's lacrosse's success will rub off on men's soccer tonight.
I know it's raining, but I promise there will be atmosphere for this exciting game. See everyone there at 7 p.m.!
