Island Blog Day 6

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Well it's not really an island blog since we're in the Miami airport waiting for our connection to BWI.  Also, I am well aware that I skipped Day 5, but there really wasn't much to say except a tough game and a lot of film sessions, shoot around, etc.  So now let's get to the good stuff,WE BEAT NO. 4 TENNESSEE!

Hey folks, sorry for starting this after tip-off but I just flew back in from Ohio after being at Ohio State for the NCAA Tournament women's soccer game.

NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal Blog Part III

It's about 11:45 p.m. and I'm in my hotel room watching some tv and finishing up some final updates on the website before getting ready to pack and head home tomorrow morning following the Georgetown women's soccer teams 2-0 loss to Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. It's never easy to say goodbye to a season and for the members of the Georgetown's women's soccer team, no one wanted to see this season end.

Repetition and consistency are always an important part of training.  Every team shoots shot after shot and runs drill after drill to make it perfect.  This consistency carries over to a team preparing for a game, trying to keep everything the same so there are no surprises and everyone is in their optimal playing mindset.

Greetings from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, where I am in the cozy confines of the press box and plan to be for the Georgetown women's soccer game at Ohio State. Kickoff is in just over 30 minutes and I'll be providing some insights throughout the game.  My first insight:  I'm really glad I'm inside and not down on the field.

Some of us in the sports information office may not be in Paradise, but for me and members of the women's soccer team, Columbus, Ohio on Thanksgiving Day may as well be Shangri-La.

I arrived in the lobby this morning and found the girls all congregating waiting to go to breakfast.  As we were waiting, someone got the idea to go around the circle and say what we were thankful for.  It was wonderful to hear how much the girls cherish their friends and families.  They understand how lucky they are to play basketball at Georgetown.

Hello Hoya fans from the U.S. Virgin Islands!  I apologize for not blogging yesterday, but it was a looooong travel day.  We left campus at 4 a.m. for a 6 a.m. flight from National to JFK.  After a short layover, we were on our way to the islands and arrived here around 1:30 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time.  It's a perfect 80 degrees with a slight breeze, just getting off of the plane was wonderful!

I'm no trailer writer, but I'm fully convinced you should want to read the blog based on the title alone.  It's Nelly ... as in Country Grammar and Just a Dream! You should definitely find out why he hearts GU Women's Hoops!

It's Sunday evening and I'm in lovely Chapel Hill, N.C., for an NCAA Tournament Second Round matchup with the Tar Heels from UNC.  It's a great night to play soccer with clear skies and high 50's.

I'll be live blogging all night sitting in the press box next to Dan Helfrich and Greg Dillard on the live play-by-play so sit down in a comfy chair with your laptop and enjoy a great night of soccer!

Greetings from Carolina First Arena in downtown Charleston where I am seated courtside for Georgetown's first game in the Charleston Classic.  I'll try providing some updates and such throughout the game.

This is a great little arena situated right in the middle of downtown Charleston.  It's where the College of Charleston plays and you can tell that when they pack it in here, it would be a tough place to play.

The season is in full swing and it has certainly kicked off here at Georgetown. You can sense the excitement whether it be sitting in Leo's having a quick meal or working in the Sports Information office preparing credentials that would be used later that night at the game.

There is a lot of talk of fanciness here in Sports Information.  This is not the first time that the Drake song Fancy will have been referenced.  However, I think today it is entirely appropriate as I blog about OUR NEW WEBSITE!!!
