Hello Hoya fans from the U.S. Virgin Islands! I apologize for not blogging yesterday, but it was a looooong travel day. We left campus at 4 a.m. for a 6 a.m. flight from National to JFK. After a short layover, we were on our way to the islands and arrived here around 1:30 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time. It's a perfect 80 degrees with a slight breeze, just getting off of the plane was wonderful!
Once arriving, we immediately went to the University of the Virgin Islands for a practice session. One of coolest things was our transportation which consisted of open-air taxis throughout the city. After a traffic-filled ride to the other side of St. Thomas, we arrived at our resort and headed out to the terrace overlooking the water and the cruise ships.
The view was magnificent as we made our way to dinner at Coco Joe's. With five other teams in the tournament, it was like summer camp in the lobby as players saw friends from other teams and the coaches mingled.
After dinner, it was lights out since some of the girls had pulled all nighters the night before.
I woke up this morning and looked out my window to see one of the most beautiful views one can imagine. Blue skies, crystal-clear water and palm trees just outside my balcony. We had a light breakfast and then went to The Antilles School for practice.
It's been a great trip so far and the girls seem to be enjoying themselves. After practice today, I know we have some water activities planned and maybe the beach!
I'll keep everyone posted as we continue this wonderful trip to the Virgin Islands. Make sure to check out the photo gallery here!
