Greetings from Verizon Center. We're in the middle of starting lineups for today's game against Utah State.  I'll be providing as many updates and insights as I can here...not stats and scores, but just some gameday observations.....feel free to tune in.
Things were pretty busy this morning, as they are always on a gameday.  I had to bring Coach Thompson for a couple of pre-game interviews.  His usual is the pre-game with Rich Chvotkin, but the visiting radio play-by-play guy - Al Lewis (I asked him if he gets Grandpa Lewis Munster jokes) - wanted to get him for their show and then ESPNU wanted to get him.  Former Wisconsin guard Mike Kelley is doing the color and he handled the interview....

The first Hoya basket of the game nearly came on an assist from senior guard Chris Wright....I bring Chris up for no other reason than to mention that he was honored pregame for becoming the 42nd player in school history to score his 1,000th point ... Chris entered the season with 995 points and reached it during the first half of the Old Dominion game....

At the 12-minute tv timeout, senior sailor Charlie Buckingham and Head Coach Mike Callahan were recognized for Charlie's win at the ISCA Singlehanded National Championship ... It was the seventh national title for Georgetown in the sport ... Callahan and his team have done a tremendous job.

Back for the second half here.  Hoyas have two quick baskets to open an 8-point lead.   Okay, that's all the play-by-play for me here.  As I was passing stats out at halftime, I went by the Utah State radio position and there was United States Senator Orrin Hatch doing an interview.  Just another game in D.C. when one of the highest-ranking senators strolls into the arena.
