Monday Afternoon Musings

It's a Monday in the office and while the women are out for lunch - Barbara Barnes is no doubt still reveling in her Green Bay Packers winning the Super Bowl last night - a few of the guys here are around the television watching the 1997 Major League Baseball Home Run Hitting Contest.  Ryan Sakamoto was in his cube doing some work, but when he heard that former Baltimore Oriole Brady Anderson was up to bat, that stopped pretty quickly.

All of which has nothing to do with anything I'll talk about here today, but it does at least give me some sort of a starting point.

If anyone is looking for something to watch on television tonight, let me offer an option - My Life 365:  The Thompson's, which will debut tonight on Comcast SportsNet at 7 p.m. and will be replayed again at 9:30 p.m., with encore presentations throughout the month.

Here's the description of the show I received today from the host of the show:  "In the newest edition of Comcast SportsNet's Emmy Award-winning My Life 365 series, which explores the lives and careers of the most fascinating figures in sports, the Thompson family is featured, including former Georgetown men's basketball coach John Thompson, Jr., current Georgetown men's basketball coach John Thompson III and Comcast SportsNet basketball analyst Ron Thompson - the host of the show. The program debuts on Feb. 7 at 9:30 p.m. with multiple encore presentations throughout the month."

In some other men's basketball news, senior guard Chris Wright - who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll today - was also nominated for the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week.  This award selects the top four men's basketball clutch performances from the past week of action and features them on ESPN and ESPN.com for fans to vote on.

If you'd like to vote for Chris, you can do so here:  http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/feature/index?page=caponecup

Speaking of voting, sophomore forward Hollis Thompson has been nominated for the "2011 Dunk of the Year" for his impressive throw-down against St. John's.

The Dunks of the Year is produced by Intersport and it will air on ABC during Final Four weekend.  To vote for the Dunk of the Year, visit www.facebook.com/dunksoftheyear.
