Hello from lovely South Bend, Indiana! Most of the time, people would think I am being sarcastic when I say this, however, today I can honestly say that it is a beautiful day. Sunny, 60 degrees, a little wind, a perfect day to play lacrosse.
Let's recap what has already happened on this trip...
Due to Easter Break, we left early on Thursday in order to spend a day in Chicago. We flew in and immediately went to practice at Loyola Academy. Senior Kathleen Dwyer's father is the coach there and she attended Loyola along with Katie O'Brien. The athletic campus was extensive and impressive.
We headed to the hotel to clean up an nap in possibly the comfiest beds in the history of the world before a wonderful dinner at the Dwyer's home. Pasta, dip, chips, veggies they had it all and it was magnificent.
The night even ended with a show as the family set up the kareoke set. Abby Bisbee performed The Climb, while Mary Beth Brophy and Jordy Kirr had a lovely duet to Something to Talk About. The finale was Rosie Corcoran and Athletic Trainer Christina Nistler doing Picture. I'm hoping to get that video uploaded shortly...
Anyway, on Friday we fought Chicago traffic on our way to Notre Dame. A cold and rainy practice for the team was followed by a hot shower and an exceptional Italian meal before it was lights out.
This morning, I woke up early to go out for a run to try and sweat out some of the huge dinner from the evening before. I took a lovely path around a lake right on UND's campus which was a great workout and a beautiful run. Along the way I saw ducks, ducklings, geese and even swans. It was a nice start to what I hope will be a wonderful day.
Now we are here at Arlotta Stadium ready for the opening draw. The game is being televised live on CBS College Sports with GU alum Sheehan Stanwick Burch as one of our announcers. Live stats are also available here.
So tune in at 1 p.m. ET to cheer on the Hoyas as we continue our run in the BIG EAST!
