GEORGETOWN SOFTBALL GAMEDAY BLOG: Hoyas at Maryland

Good evening Georgetown softball fans!  We're here in College Park for a twilight doubleheader between your Hoyas and the Maryland Terrapins.  GU is taking another short break in BIG EAST action to play two against its Beltway rivals.  The team's game against UMBC was rained out yesterday so the Hoyas will be seeing their first action since taking two of three on the road against Villanova last weekend.  The Blue & Gray have really stepped it up in BIG EAST play, batting .319 as a team, nearly 100 points better than the squad managed in the non-conference season.

Spring Has Sprung?

It's Tuesday here in McDonough and the warmer temperatures the last couple of days have gone a long way toward raising the spirits of many here in the office.  Not only does it mean there can be many more sockless days, but it also signifies the start of the baseball season - and more importantly the San Francisco Giants defense of their 2010 World Series Championship.

All These Things that I Have Seen

We're closing on yet another year on the Hilltop and I just cannot believe it has gone by so quickly.  Sure, some of our sports are far from over - such as our women's lacrosse team, competing for the BIG EAST Championship tomorrow up in Piscataway - but there is a feeling on campus that it's nearly time for summer already.

Hoya Infielders Develop Love for Racquetball

The Snow-torious BIG (my personal favorite of storm nicknames heard on the news last week) did a solid job of shutting down the DC Metro area. Classes were cancelled, public transportation was limited and I was able to make it through two seasons of HBO's The Wire on DVD that I had "borrowed" from my brother (Thanks Sean!) as I sat stranded in Falls Church, Va. Though as hard as it tried, the snow could not stop the Georgetown softball team from preparing, as they set to begin the program's fifth season of play this weekend at the Elon Phoenix Tournament in Elon, N.C.
