Thompson Boat Center
For nearly fifty years, Thompson's Boat Center has served as the home of the Georgetown Crew. Located at the intersection of Rock Creek Parkway and Virginia Avenue on the Potomac River in Georgetown, Thompson's is a public facility of the National Park Service that accommodates thousands of rowers of all ages each year.
Thompson's is a hub for regattas and racing throughout the region. The boathouse sits near the finish line of the racing course and provides storage for all of the Hoya racing shells.
The opportunity to train and race on the Potomac River offers Georgetown rowers one of the unique rowing experiences available in the intercollegiate sport of crew. The Potomac, as a rowing venue, provides long stretches of protected water, an ideal sporting environment for practice and racing, and inspiring scenic views ranging from rural wilderness to bustling cityscape, all in the shadow of the grand monuments of the nation's capital.
An outstanding asset of Georgetown rowing is the proximity of the University's hilltop campus to the river and boathouse. This ease of accessibility affords Hoya rowers quick and convenient access, by foot or bicycle, before or after classes, from their living quarters or library.
