Washington, D.C. - Dwight Datcher, associate director of athletics at Georgetown University, was introduced as the director of athletics at Howard University in a press conference on Friday afternoon.
Datcher takes over at Howard after spending seven years at Georgetown, where he worked with sports medicine, NCAA Compliance, men's basketball home game management, support services and the infrastructure of McDonough Gymnasium.
"We're thrilled for Dwight and know that this is a tremendous opportunity for him," Georgetown Director of Athletics Bernard Muir said. "We wish him the best of success in his new position at Howard."
A 1974 graduate of Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, he was a four-year starter for the basketball team.
