Days to Remember

March 24, 2006

What a difference the last 14 days have had on the collective Hoya psyche! Syracuse may have edged the Hoyas and the rest of the field in the BIG EAST tournament in New York City two weeks ago, but look who's smiling now. One week ago, on St. Paddy's Day, we were in Dayton, two wins away from the Sweet 16. Today, it's Minneapolis. Actually, Hoya eyes have been smiling ever since selection Sunday when Georgetown first learned of its road in the NCAA tournament.

At the time, I was with an enclave of descended Hibernians mostly from Long Island gathered in Jupiter, Florida for a Hoya golf outing.

Returning to the Hilltop, I joined Regents' Athletics committee chair Mary Taylor Behrens and her family at a student viewing party of the Hoyas' opening game in Dayton last week.

The Georgetown men's basketball team has made Hoyas everywhere proud this year. And the best news yet is that there is still more to come.

A gallery of photos from these Hoya gatherings follow.
