Shawn Hendi was named the head athletic trainer at Georgetown University in August, 2008 and promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Wellness in the summer of 2013 and became an associate athletics director in 2017.

A native of the Mount Airy, Md., Hendi graduated from The George Washington University in 1997 and received his master's of science in health and human performance from Austin Peay State University in 1998.

Hendi came to Georgetown after serving two separate stints spanning six years as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Maryland. In between his time at Maryland, he was the head athletic trainer at Loyola Blakefield School in Towson, Md.

Hendi was interviewed by Dr. Richard Braver for a 2003 article titled Treatment Solutions for Common Soccer Injures. The article utilized his expertise on Jones fifth metatarsal fractures and stress fractures in soccer athletes.

Hendi is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, the Maryland Athletic Trainers' Association and the College Athletic Trainers' Society. He also serves as an approved clinical instructor for Shenandoah University and was elected president of the BIG EAST Sports Medicine Society in 2012.

Hendi resides in Gaithersburg, Md., with his wife, Jen, and his two daughters, Morgan and Camryn.
