W. Blanton Jones is the senior director of development for athletics and an associate athletics director for the Georgetown Athletics Department. In this role he serves on the senior administrative team and as chief advancement officer for athletics, while also serving on the senior leadership team of university development for the Office of Advancement at Georgetown. His responsibilities include executive leadership for the athletics portion of the For Generations to Come Campaign, a $125M fundraising effort as a part of Georgetown's historic $1.5B campaign. Jones began his duties for Georgetown in February 2006 as director of development for athletics. Prior to Georgetown, Jones served in senior administrative and athletics fundraising roles at Vanderbilt University, the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University, along with providing consultative services for the last nine years to athletics departments, advancement operations in higher and secondary education and for emerging businesses in need of strategic financing for growth purposes. Jones received his undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Virginia in 1993 and his Master's in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University in 2003. He and his wife, Delaine, reside in Alexandria, Va., with their two boys, Wade (9) and Will (6). |
