Brian McGuire first came to Georgetown as a student in September of 1969. He was a member of the lacrosse team and graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's of arts in Sociology in 1972.

Later that year, he began working for the Georgetown Alumni Association as the director of student programming and alumni clubs. After serving a term as president of Hoyas Unlimited, McGuire joined the athletic department staff in the newly created role of director of sports promotions in 1978.

From 1978-2005, McGuire supervised all ticketing, licensing and marketing operations for the department in his role as director of sports marketing and then assistant director of athletics for marketing and promotions. In 1978, McGuire helped form the Hoya Hoop Club, and in 1985 he was instrumental in starting the first licensing program at Georgetown.

In 2008, McGuire was promoted to associate director of athletics for facilities, operations, and game management, where he oversees the continued development of the Multi-Sport Facility and the newly-planned Intercollegiate Athletic Center, as well as playing a key role in all athletic facility master planning. In addition, McGuire has oversight of all athletic events and game operations. He is currently the sport administrator for men's basketball, men's soccer and women's lacrosse.

McGuire is a long-time basketball supporter, having attended every Georgetown post-season basketball game since 1970 (180 games), including attending every BIG EAST Tournament, NIT and NCAA game.

He lives with his wife Colleen (C'78) in Arlington, Va. The couple has one son, Michael(C'04).
