Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance


Milton Roy joined Georgetown in February 2012, as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance.

In his current role, Roy is responsible for oversight of NCAA rules education and enforcement for all of Georgetown University's 29 varsity sports. He is the primary contact for issues related to Financial aid, continuing eligibility and transfers and the primary contact for NCAA legislative interpretations.

Prior to Georgetown, Roy served as the Director of Compliance at University of Central Florida Athletics, beginning in July 2010. While in Orlando, Fla., Roy worked as the athletic department's liaison to the Financial Aid, UCF Housing and dining services offices. He educated student-athletes with NCAA rules and guidelines and administered Coaches Certification Exams, while also providing rules interpretations to student-athletes, coaches and staff. At UCF, Roy also served as the National Letter of Intent Administrator and processed scholarship forms, while overseeing football recruiting.

Roy served as the Assistant Director of Compliance at South Carolina State from August 2004 until June 2010, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the compliance office, including rules education, interpretation of policies and procedures of NCAA regulations. In Orangeburg, S.C., he was the certifying officer for 16 varsity sports and was the official liaison for the office of compliance to the registrar, financial aid and admissions offices.

He began his career in compliance as the Compliance Assistant and Assistant Director of Academic Support at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Md. At Coppin State, Roy monitored students percent of degree requirements, student-athlete employment and coaches practice logs and was the primary contact with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Roy earned his bachelor of science in physical education with a concentration in sports management in 2001 from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. At Johnson C. Smith, he was a three-year letterman on the football team, earning Coca-Cola All Academic honors in 1999. Roy earned a masters of science in sports administration from Grambling State University in 2002.
