WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team and longtime rival Syracuse have agreed to a new four-year series, beginning with the 2019-20 campaign. The Hoyas will host the Orange at Capital One Arena on Saturday, December 14 with a return trip to Syracuse slated for the following season.

"I'm excited we will be able to have Syracuse on the schedule for the next four years," said head coach Patrick Ewing. "The Georgetown-Syracuse rivalry is one of the best in college basketball, if not all of sports."

Georgetown and Syracuse have faced each other 94 times in program history with the Orange holding a slight 51-43 advantage. The first meeting between the Hoyas and the Orange took place on Feb. 15, 1930 and the two schools faced each other every year from 1979 to 2013 as members of the BIG EAST Conference. Following a two-year hiatus, they just finished a four-year home-and-home series which was split 2-2 between the two teams.

In addition to hosting Syracuse, the Hoyas have already announced that they will also play in the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden, take on Oklahoma State as part of the BIG EAST/Big 12 crossover and face SMU in Dallas to close out a home-and-home series with the Mustangs.
