Georgetown Athletes Mentorship Enterprise

Volunteer Activities | GAME Reflection By Scott McLeod

Since GAME's inception in 1997, Georgetown University student-athletes have mentored youngsters from elementary schools throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. GAME is a speakers' bureau that provides an opportunity for youth to hear important messages about setting goals, resolving conflicts, and developing positive self-esteem. Hoya student-athletes present positive messages and the importance of academic success is always stressed. Through GAME, relationships, have been built and hundreds of youths from more than 50 primary schools in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia have been influenced.

GAME is designed to provide community outreach opportunities. Student-athletes will be trained to speak to various schools and community organizations throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. GAME messages include: achieving academic success, developing positive self-esteem, setting goals, resolving conflicts, making healthy choices, and much more.
