Hoyas Drop to Fourth after Thursday's Action at ICSA Women's National Championship

Washington, D.C. - After the second day of competition at the 2006 ICSA Women's National Championship on Thursday, the Georgetown women's sailing team moved down to fourth place. The Hoyas have 213 points through 28 races, trailing College of Charleston (166), Stanford (191) and St. Mary's (198). Action will conclude on the Cooper River in Charleston, S.C. tomorrow with the final eight races.
Seniors Derby Anderson (Annapolis, Md./The Key School) and Jackie Schmitz (McLean, Va./Holton-Arms) had an impressive second day, collecting 61 points in 10 'B' division races to move up to third in the division. Anderson and Schmitz had five top-five finishes on the afternoon. On Wednesday, the pair had 23 points in four races to sit in fifth.
In the 'A' division, sophomore Blaire Herron (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) and freshman Carly Chamberlain (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) slipped to 10th after eight Thursday races. The duo has 129 points, after posting 41 points in six contests on Wednesday.
