WASHINGTON - After the first day of sailing in an 18-boat final, the Georgetown University sailing team is currently in ninth place of the 2017 ICSA Sperry College Sailing Women’s National Championship with 170 points. The two-day final, held on the Charleston Harbor and the Cooper River in Charleston, S.C., concludes on Friday.
Behind 62 points, the Hoyas are currently in third place in the B division. Georgetown has recorded a pair of wins and all but two races have been top-10 performances in the B division as they trail Yale (28) and Dartmouth (59).
Racing in the A division has been less consistent for the Blue & Gray, currently in 12th place with 108 points in the A division. Georgetown had a strong start in the A division with a second-place showing in the first race but just three performances among the top 10 in the final nine races of the day hindered the Hoyas.
Live coverage of the national championships will be available on the official website of the 2017 ICSA Nationals.
