GU Sailing Takes Fifth at APS Team Race National Championships

Georgetown sailing finishes fifth at APS Team Race National Championships.

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University sailing team finished fifth at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) APS Team Race National Championships, an event that concluded on Monday afternoon. The championship was held on the St. Mary's River in St. Mary's City, Md., with the remainder of the top eight round robin as well as the final four round robin occurring on Monday.

The Hoyas narrowly missed the final four round robin as they finished fifth overall in the top eight with a record of 14-8, moving up to fifth after starting the second round in seventh place. Yale won the championship with an overall record of 22-3, as the Blue & Gray dealt Yale its first loss of the regatta.

Racing continues Tuesday with the Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship Semifinals. The top 36 collegiate teams in the nation have qualified to compete in this event.
