Georgetown Sailing Opens 2012 Spring Season at Rose Bowl Regatta

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown sailing team began the 2012 season with a third place finish in Division A and sixth in Division B. The team finished fourth overall out of 29 teams with 78 points.The Rose Bowl Regatta consistently attracts quality competition, providing the first opportunity for many teams to race in the spring season. In the A Division, senior Sydney Bolger (Long Beach, Calif./Poly High School) and freshman Katia DaSilva (East Greenwich, R.I./Moses Brown) tallied 31 points in a tight finish among the top four teams. Andrew Mason (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar High School) and Leslie Cowen (Dover, Mass./Tabor Academy) overcame rough conditions in the B Division race for a sixth place finish and 47 points. The Hoyas finished one point behind St. Mary's College of Maryland and one point ahead of the College of Charleston. Georgetown sailing will be back in competition on the east coast starting in mid-February.
