Georgetown Swimming & Diving Sweeps Howard on Senior Day

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming & diving teams swept their dual meets against Howard on Senior Day at the Albert G. McCarthy, Jr. Swimming Pool this afternoon. The men won 119-92 and the women won 106-81. Paul Quincy (San Ramon, Calif./California) set a new school record and pool record in the 1650 free and diver Rebecca Jenkinson (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) qualified for BIG EAST's in the 1-meter dive. Jenkinson and teammate Angela Pontes (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) both recorded PR's in the one and three-meter dive.

The afternoon started with the Hoyas winning consecutive 200 medley relays on the women's and men's side. Lindsay Vickroy (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), Kathryn Berg (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North), Laura Alito (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and Megan Harvey (Norristown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) took the relay for the women and Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High), Brad Crist (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Shawnee Mission East), Victor Lopez-Cantera (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep) and Ken Ryan (Chapel Hill, N.C./Carrboro) won it for the men's team. Vickroy went on to capture the 50 and 100 frees while Harvey snagged a victory in the 200 free for the Hoyas.

The men's team won a number of events as Chris Finnegan (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) won the 200 free, Thomas Graham (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) took the 200 breast, Robert Gokey (Minot, N.D./Minot) won the 50 free, Brad Murray (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga) captured the 200 fly with a PR time and Tom Crecelius (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) won the 100 free. James LiVolsi (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) recorded a PR in the 200 free, Finnegan snagged a PR in the 100 free and Murray had a PR in the 400 IM.

 

 

On the women's side, the Hoyas won three more events with Christina Daquila (New Providence, N.J./Pingry) winning the 1650 with a PR time, Kristen Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) taking the 200 fly and Christina Costa (Tarrytown, N.Y./Irvington) winning the 100 back. Other PR's on the day were garnered by Samantha Kietlinski (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) in the 1650 free and 100 back, Laura Noisten (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) in the 100 breast and Lisa Pazzi (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) in the 500 free.

Both teams are in action next weekend as they travel to College Park, Md., for a Saturday afternoon dual meet at 1 p.m.
