Georgetown Swimming and Diving Finishes Competition with William & Mary and Towson

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming and diving team finished competition against William & Mary and Towson on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Pool on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas men fell to the Tribe, 198-64 and to Towson, 205-79. The women fell to William & Mary, 221-73 and to Towson, 247-53.
The Hoyas women's finished third in the 200 yard medley relay, as Kathleen Duncalf, Maryellen Campbell, Erin Timochenko and Erica Fabbri finished in a time of 1:49.66. The Hoyas men's 200 yard medley relay squad finished second in a time of Michael Young, Christian Kilgore, Martin Vanin and Matthew Mandel in 1:35.52
Austin Evenson took third place in the meet's fourth event, the men's 1000 yard freestyle, in 9:46.90. He would later finish fourth in the 500 yard freestyle in 4:47.45. In the men's 100 yard backstroke, Michael Ng finished in second place in a time of 52.19. Two events late, Christian Kilgore finished fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 59.96. In the 14th event, Michael Smigelski finished fourth in the 50 yard freestyle in 22.16.
In the 26th event, the 100 yard butterfly, Vanin and David Chung finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Vanin finished in 51.97, while Chung finished in 52.68.
On the women's side, Molly Gaynor finished fifth in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:10.29. Later in the meet, Kathleen Duncalf finished fifth in the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 59.68. Lauren Kahan finished second in the one-meter diving competition with a final score of 224.85.
The Hoyas return to McCarthy Pool next Saturday, when they host Yale with the first event starting at 1 p.m.
