STORRS, Conn. - Paul Quincy placed in the top three in four events, winning the 1000 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle and Christian Kilgore turned in three top three performances, as the Georgetown men's and women's swimming and diving team completed competition at the BIG EAST Quad Meet at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium at University of Connecticut.
The Hoyas finished behind Connecticut and Villanova on the men's side, being outscored 188-161 by Villanova and 255-92 by UConn. On the women's side the Hoyas were outscored 267-86 by Villanova, 286-67 by UConn and 297.5-55.5 to Rutgers. Paul Quincy had a big first day of the BIG EAST Quad Meet, finishing in second place in the men's 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:45.19, in the meet's sixth event. Quincy would later earn the Hoyas first victory, placing first in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 9:35.01. Quincy has earned first place in each of the three meets he has swam the 1000 yard freestyle this season.
On the second day of the meet, Quincy would earn his third consecutive victory in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 4:45.72, as freshman William Lawler finished fourth in 4:50.14. Earlier in the day, Quincy, finished second in the 400 yard individual medley in 4:11.88.
Christian Kilgore finished second place in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:12.07 to cap a strong weekend that saw him place in three events. Kilgore earned two third place finishes on the first day of the meet, earning bronze in the men's 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:00.74. He came back in the meet's 14th event, the 200 yard individual medley, to take third place in a time of 2:00.68.
Michael Ng gave the Hoyas another third place finish in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 53.45. On Saturday, Ng finished third again in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:57.04.
Matthew Mandel finished fourth in a time of 22.08 in the 50 yard freestyle. Mandel came back on Saturday and took third place in the 100 yard freestyle in 48.39. On Saturday, the men's 200 yard medley relay, consisting of Ng, Kilgore, Greg Germain and Mandel finished second in 1:37.15.
Brian McCallister finished in third place in three meter diving, scoring 167.85 at the end of day one, before coming back on Saturday to earn third place in the one meter dive with 185.95.
On Saturday, Lauren Opatrny had the women's highest finish, placing fifth in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:08.53. Opatrny would come back two events later to finish seventh of 16 in the 100 yard butterfly in 58.58. On Friday, Opatrny finished seventh in the 100 yard backstroke in 59.35.
Shannon Donohue finished seventh in the three meter dive, scoring 226.65.
Georgetown returns to action on November 11 and 12 at the Princeton Swimming & Diving Open with the Tigers, Lehigh and TCNJ.
