PRINCETON, N.J. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team completed competition at the Big Al Open at DeNunzio Pool on the campus of Princeton University on Saturday evening, following two days of action between the Hoyas, TCNJ, Fordham and host Princeton.
On Friday, senior captain Paul Quincy (San Ramon, California/California) placed in the meet's fourth event, the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in third place with a time of 4:36.46.
The men closed out Friday's action with a strong performance in the 400 yard medley relay, as Michael Ng, Christian Kilgore, Victor Lopez-Cantera and Matthew Mandel finished in fourth place in 3:31.30, less than one second behind third place Fordham.
The Georgetown women's 200 yard medley relay team started the Hoyas off well on Saturday morning, with a fourth place finish behind the quartet of Erin Timochenko, Maryellen Campbell, Lauren Ward and Erica Fabbri in 1:51.78. The men's 200 yard medley relay team of Michael Young, Kilgore, Lopez-Cantera and Mandel finished in fourth place in 1:36.51, less than one-tenth of a second behind TCNJ's third place squad.
Ng finished third in the men's 100 meter backstroke in 52.40 in the second-to-last even of the Saturday morning session. The Hoyas men's 800 yard freestyle relay of Quincy, Austin Evenson, William Lawler and Cal Rohde finished third in 7:06.88 to end the morning session.
Nicole Tronolone opened the Saturday evening session with a third place finish in the women's 1650 freestyle in a time of 17:49.00, with Emily Hall, Shannon McNulty and Sarah Chiles finishing behind her in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Quincy followed with a third place finish in the men's 1650 freestyle in a time of 15:59.63, as Evenson finished behind him in fourth place.
Georgetown returns to action on Friday when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to take part in the three-day Bucknell Invitational.
