Swimming and Diving Gets Through the First Day of the Patriot Invitational
Nov. 18, 2005 Washington, D.C. - After the first day of competition, the men's swimming and diving team is in tenth place of 11 teams at the annual Patriot Invitational at the Aquatic and Fitness Center, while the women are in tenth place.
On the women's side, senior captain Katie Amaro (Shreveport, La./Loyola Prep) swam to a sixth place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.23. The quartet of junior Liz Nugent (Westport, Conn./The Hopkins School), senior captain Corinne Rhodes (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), senior Claire Nugent (Westport, Conn./The Hopkins School) and Amaro placed 13th in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:05.07.
On the men's side, the quartet of freshman Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart), senior captain Don Ball (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), freshman David Ballinger (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) and sophomore Peter Myers (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame Hight) placed 13th in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.98. Also finishing strong was senior captain Jon Hayden (Woodbridge, Va./Osbourn Park) with a time of 4:41.31 in the 500 yard freestyle for 13th place.
The Patriot Invitational continues tomorrow with preliminary rounds slated for 10 a.m., diving events at noon, and final rounds at 6 p.m. The final day of the meet is Sunday, November 20. |
