Swimming and Diving Slips to 10th After Second Day of Competition at the Patriot Invitational

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown men's swimming and diving team finishes day two of the Patriot Invitational in 10th place out of 11 teams. The women also finish the day in tenth. This was the second day of competition held at the Aquatic Fitness Center in Fairfax, Va.

Senior captain Katie Amaro (Shreveport, La./Loyola Prep) finished in seventh place in the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:54.80. Also performing well for the Hoyas was the quartet of junior Liz Nugent (Westport, Conn./The Hopkins School), senior captain Corinne Rhodes (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), senior Claire Nugent (Westport, Conn./The Hopkins Schoo) and freshman Jaclyn Zocca (Summit, N.J./Summit), who placed 11th in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.38.

On the men's side, freshman Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) finished in 10th place in the 100 yard backstroke event. Fellow freshman, Daniel Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon), swam into 13th place in the 400 yard individual medley. The quartet of senior captain Heath Walden (Scituate, Mass./Boston College High), sophomore Peter Myers (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame High), senior captain Jon Hayden (Woodbridge, Va./Osbourn Park) and sophomore Chris Ball (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) placed 12th in the 800 yard freestyle relay.

 

 

The Hoyas return to the Patriot Invitational tomorrow for the final day of competition. Preliminary events are slated for 9 a.m., diving at noon, and final events at 5 p.m.
