Washington, D.C. - After one day at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., the Georgetown women's swimming & diving team sits in fifth place, while the men's swimming & diving team rests in sixth place. On the day, four men's swimmers set PR's and cracked top-10 lists at Georgetown in their individual events.

Chris Finnegan (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) finished eighth in the 500 freestyle after setting a freshman record in the 500 freestyle during the preliminaries with a time of 4:41.44. Sophomore Ray Zomerfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep) qualified for the consolation finals this morning and then set a PR during the evening session with a 200 individual medley time of 1:58.03. Both Finnegan and Zomerfeld's times were good enough to break into the top five all-time at Georgetown in their respective events.

Brian Koh (Rowland Heights, Calif./Damien) and Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) also picked up top-10 times for the Hoyas this evening. In the 500 freestyle, Koh picked up a PR time of 4:45.62, improving five seconds from his morning time. Bistric moved up the 200 individual medley all-time list with a PR time of 1:58.07

During the diving portion of the evening's events, Caitlin Karniski (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) finished fifth in the women's one meter diving final after recording a high score of 215.25 in the preliminaries. In the men's three meter diving preliminaries, Michael McWilliams' (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga High) score of 229.70 qualified him for the finals tomorrow.

 

 

Preliminary Results
In the 500 freestyle, Mallory Kiplinger (Darien, Conn./Darien) finished 12th with a time of 5:12.99 and advanced to the consolation finals along with Megan Harvey (Norristown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur), who finished 15th with a time of 5:14.29. Kristen Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) will also race tonight after finishing with a time of 5:17.70. On the men's side, James LiVolsi (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) finished 18th with a time of 4:48.58

The next event was the 200 individual medley and the men's team had three swimmers advance to the evening session. Daniel Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) finished among the top 25 swimmers with respective times of 1:58.81 and 2:00.49. Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) finished 12th with a time of 2:12.92, while Katherine Lee (New York, N.Y./Spence) finished 18th with a time of 2:15.07 for the women's team.

In the final event of the morning, the 50 freestyle, both the men's and women's teams had a swimmer reach the finals. Lindsay Vickroy (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and Brad Crist (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) each finished with top 20 times in their events. Vickroy was 11th with a time of 24.72 and Crist was 20th with a time of 21.89.
