Laura Stark Records Georgetown's Best Finish at Patriot Invitationals, Brad Crist Sets School Record

Washington, D.C. - After day two of the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., the Georgetown women's swimming & diving team sits in fifth place, while the men's swimming & diving team rests in sixth place. Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) brought home Georgetown's best result of the night with a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly and a time of 57.66.

Brad Crist (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) set a school record in the 100 breaststroke during the preliminaries with a time of 59.30 and then earned a seventh-place finish in the finals. He was nudged out by teammate Thomas Graham (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) who swam a 59.65, the exact time he swam in the preliminaries.

Top-five times in the preliminaries were attained by both Ray Zomerfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep) in the 400 individual medley and Megan Harvey (Norristown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) in the 100 butterfly. Meanwhile, Victor Lopez-Cantera (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep) set a PR in the 100 butterfly during the morning session and improved drastically in the evening session to earn himself a top-five time at Georgetown in the event.

Kathryn Berg (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North) advanced to the final in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.27 and finished eighth overall in the event.

On the diving side, Michael McWilliams (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga High) finished seventh in the men's three meter dive while Caitlin Karniski (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) and Rebecca Jenkinson (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) advanced to the finals of the women's three meter dive.

 

 

Three swimmers recorded top-10 GU times, along with PR's, during the morning session. Chris Finnegan (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) and Mallory Kiplinger (Darien, Conn./Darien) accomplished it in the 200 freestyle and Greg Germain (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) did it in the 100 backstroke. Freshman Kelly Donlin (Harrison, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) was able to break into the top 10 in the 200 freestyle with a time of 59.10 during the evening portion

Preliminary Results
The Hoyas had a number of swimmers advance to tonight's session. Suzie Waller (Darien, Conn./Darien), Mary McGuire (Port Chester, N.Y./Sacred Heart) and Daniel Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) advanced in the 400 individual medley. Kristen Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo), Katelyn O'Connor (New Rochelle, N.Y./The Ursuline School), Kelly Donlin (Harrison, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart), Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) and Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) moved on in the 100 butterfly. Lindsay Vickroy (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and Harvey advanced in the 200 freestyle. Katherine Lee (New York, N.Y./Spence), Stark, Zomerfeld and Lopez-Cantera moved on in the 100 breaststroke and Vickroy, Bistric, Going, James LiVolsi (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) and Robinson will swim in the 100 backstroke.
