LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team wrapped up its second day at the Bucknell Invite, as the women's team is holding onto fourth place with 606 points, while the men's team is currently in fifth place with 480.5 points.
The women trail host Bucknell, Fordham and Delaware in the 10-team field, while the men are behind Yale, Bucknell, LaSalle and Binghamton in a nine team field. The competition will conclude on Sunday at the Kinney Natatorium.
The Georgetown women started Saturday's evening races by taking third place in the 200 yard medley relay with the quartet of Erin Timochenko, Allison Fulenwider, Molly Gaynor and Erica Fabbri finishing in 1:46.90. The men followed with a second place performance, as Michael Young, Christian Kilgore, Martin Vanin and Matthew Mandel finished in 1:32.85.
Fabbri led a Hoyas trio that swept the top three places in the women's 100 yard butterfly with a time of 55.59, improving by nearly two seconds over her preliminary time from the morning. Gaynor finished second in 56.54, while Jillian Carter took third place in 56.59. Timochenko earned fifth place in 57.53 in the GU dominated final.
In the men's 100 yard butterfly, Vanin earned a fourth place finish with a time of 50.25 to score points for the GU men.
Emma Cammann scored a second place finish for the Hoyas in the women's 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 57.41, with Timochenko finishing four places behind, in sixth, in the "A" final. Michael Ng finished third in the men's 100 yard backstroke in 50.77.
Georgetown returns to the pool on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. to begin the preliminary rounds for the meet's final 13 events.
