WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming & diving team put in a strong showing at the three-day Bucknell Invitational, setting four school records and coming away with three individual titles. The Hoya women finished fifth of nine teams with 968 points, while the men's squad placed fifth of eight teams with 870 points. Swimming took place at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.

On the men's side, Towson won the meet with 1,271.5 points with La Salle (1,049), North Dakota (983) and Fordham (932.5) all also finishing ahead of the Hoyas. On Sunday, both Katie Duncalf (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and Molly Fitzpatrick (Manchester, N.H./The Derryfield School) won individual titles to lead the Hoyas. Duncalf won the 200-yard backstroke with a school record and an NCAA qualifying time of 1:58.37, improving her time from the morning prelims by more than two seconds. Fitzpatrick took home her second win of the weekend in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:13.52 to win by six seconds and register her second NCAA qualifying time of the weekend. She also qualified with her win in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday.

Along with Duncalf's record in the 200-yard backstroke, Georgetown set three other records over the weekend, starting with the women's 400-yard medley relay on Friday where the quartet of Duncalf, Fitzpatrick, Molly Gaynor (Scotch Plains, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) and Morgan Conley (Winnetka, Ill./Chatham/New Trier School [N.J.]) finished with a time of 3:45.76.

Fitzpatrick then set the top standard in the 100-yard breaststroke twice on Saturday. She broke the original record in the morning prelims with a time of 1:02.08. In the evening finals, she broke her own mark with a time of 1:01.69 to win the A final and register an NCAA qualifying time.

Additionally, Martin Vanin (Cali, Colombia/Colegio Bolivar) swam a 49.17 in the men's 100-yard butterfly on Saturday to break the school record.
