Georgetown Swimming & Diving Defeats Howard and Catholic in First Home Meet of Season

WASHINGTON - WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team won the first five events on its way to a victory over Howard University and Catholic University on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Pool during the Hoyas first home meet of the season. Six GU freshmen earned individual victories.

The Georgetown women's 400 yard medley relay team of Erin Timochenko, Rosemary Christian, Jillian Carter and Alanna Hulburd earned a victory in 4:05.81, before the men's 400 yard medley relay team of Michael Young, Bryce Hartman, Victor Lopez-Cantera and Matthew Mandel won in a time of 3:33.85.

Freshman Shannon McNulty earned a victory in the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 11:05.37, with Christina Daqulia taking second place. On the men's side sophomore Jamie Gallagher won in a time of 10:09.15, with Steven Zheng claiming second place in 10:11.02.

Sophomore Casey Bandman won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:58.69, with Kim DiNapoli finishing in second place in 2:03.24, while freshman Erica Fabbri won the 50 yard freestyle in 24.96.

Senior Paul Quincy won the 200 yard IM in 1:58.62, with Bryce Hartman and Liuben Chipev rounding out the top three.



Junior Shannon Donohue won the one-meter dive in 246.67. Casandra Schwartz finished close behind with 241.20, while Zoey Krulick took third place.

Timochenko and Fabbri took the top two spots in the 100 yard butterfly, with Timochenko winning in 58.49. The Hoyas swept the top four places on the men's side, with Michael Ng winning in 52.69. Austin Wolff, Michael Spinelli and Brad Murray claimed the next three places.

Alanna Hulburd won the 100 yard freestyle in 55.52. The Blue & Gray earned wins in both the women's and men's 100 yard backstroke, with Bandman claiming the win for the women and Michael Young winning for the men.

A pair of GU freshmen helped claim the top spot on both sides of the 500 yard freestyle, as Nicole Tronolone won in 5:11.25, while Austin Evenson earned a victory on the men's side in 4:47.34.

Casandra Schwartz won the three-meter diving competition, edging out teammate Shannon Donohue by a score of 239.40-238.87.

The Hoyas will return to action following winter break when they host James Madison and American at McCarthy Pool on Saturday, January 12, beginning at 1 p.m.
