Hoyas resume season in Quad Meet with JMU, American and VMI.

Jan. 13, 2012

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team opens the 2012 portion of its schedule on the road, as they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to compete with James Madison, American and VMI on Saturday, January 14 beginning at 1 p.m. The Hoyas, fresh off their winter training trip to Puerto Rico, compete for the first time since December 3.

The Blue & Gray have had several strong performers throughout the 2011-12 season, as Lauren Opatrny has already improved her own record in the 200 individual medley this season. Matthew Mandel broke the school record in the 50 yard freestyle and Paul Quincy has been dominant in long distance events.

In its last meet against Catholic, the Hoyas celebrated Senior Day by turning in strong performances, as Sarah Chiles, Opatrny, Amy Ballanfant and Virginia Carefoote won races on the women's side, while William Lawler, Michael Ng, Chris Finnegan and Christian Kilgore won races on the men's side.

Saturday will be the Hoyas third quad meet of the season, as the team is now one month away from the BIG EAST Championships, set to take place in Pittsburgh, Pa.
