Georgetown Swimming & Diving Takes on American and George Washington This Weekend

Jan. 16, 2014

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team takes on a pair of local rivals this weekend as they travel to American University on Friday and George Washington University on Saturday.

The Hoyas will swim against the Eagles at Reeves Pool, with the diving portion of the meet taking place at GU's McCarthy Pool at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Hoyas take on the Colonials at 1 p.m. at the Smith Center Pool. GU competed against both at the Potomac Relays in October.

The Hoyas continue its busy stretch after opening its spring semester with James Madison and Gardner-Webb last weekend. The men's team fell to Gardner-Webb, 185-95 while the women fell to the Dukes, 202-90. Christian Kilgore won the 200 yard breaststroke and Martin Vanin won the 100 yard butterfly for the men. Molly Gaynor won the 100 butterfly for the women.

These will be the second and third of four meets in three weeks for the Hoyas following its winter training trip to Puerto Rico. Georgetown will wrap up its home schedule at McCarthy Pool on Saturday, January 25 when they host Drexel on Senior Day.
