Jan. 20, 2012

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming and diving team will travel across town to compete against George Washington University at the Smith Center Pool on Saturday, January 21, with the first race scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

The dual meet with the Colonials is the final time the Hoyas compete in The District during the 2011-2012 season, with just two more meets before heading off to the BIG EAST Championships in February.

The Blue & Gray returned to competition in strong fashion after a month-long break at James Madison University, last Saturday. In a quad meet with the Dukes, American and VMI, Georgetown finished strong as the men outscored VMI, 194.50 - 99.50, while the women outscored both American and VMI.

During the competition, Georgetown's men had 15 different swimmers earn top three finishes in 16 events and the women's team rallied late to take first place in three of the last four events. Lauren Opatrny won the 200 yard backstroke and finished second in the 100 yard backstroke, while Paul Quincy earned second place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.
