WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming and diving team will compete in its final regular season dual meet against the Maryland Terrapins at the Eppley Recreation Natatorium on campus at Maryland on Saturday, February 4 at 1 p.m.
The meet will serve as a last chance to qualify for the BIG EAST Championships for some and a tune-up for previous qualifiers, as the Hoyas look to put themselves in position to swim its fastest times at the conference championships in Pittsburgh in two and a half weeks.
"This is an opportunity for anybody to get their races before BIG EAST's." Head Coach Jamie Holder said. "Maryland is a very fast team and this will be a good tune-up for us."
The Hoyas enter Saturday's meet after a strong performance at George Washington University two weeks ago. Paul Quincy earned wins in the 500 yard freestyle and 1000 yard freestyle, and Amy Ballanfant won the 50 yard freestyle, as the GU women were edged 132-129 in a meet that came down to the final relay.
"We've improved every weekend since the break, which is what I expected," Head Coach Jamie Holder said. "I'm pretty optimistic about how well we are going to swim at BIG EAST."
Fans interested in attending Saturday's meet at Maryland are encouraged to park in the Stadium Drive Garage due.
