Feb. 7, 2014
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team will complete its regular season on Saturday afternoon in Piscataway, N.J., when they take on host Rutgers and BIG EAST rival Providence at the Rutgers Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
Some Hoyas will be looking for a final chance to make BIG EAST qualifying standards, while others will use the meet as a final competitive setting to prepare for the BIG EAST Championships that begin on Wednesday, February 19.
The Hoyas have shown strength in the distance freestyle races over the last two weekends, with Austin Evenson earning several wins in the 1000 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle on the men's side, with Nicole Tronolone doing the same for the women.
Georgetown has also turned in winning performances in the 200 yard butterfly, as Jillian Carter earned a victory, with Casey Bandman, Jessica Gaudiosi and Lauren Ward finishing behind her in order. On the men's side Martin Vanin has won the 100 yard butterfly in two of the Hoyas last three meets.
