WASHINGTON, DC - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team finished day two of the Northeast Conference Championships in impressive fashion. The squad continued to dominate, with many swimming to ECAC qualifying times.

The women's side was highlighted by the third place finish of the 800 meter relay, where freshman Caitlin Colling, freshman Kelcy Poulson, senior Cori Raffaelli , and junior Katie Amaro swam to an ECAC qualifying time of 7:44.26. Amaro, Colling, and Raffaelli also placed third, sixth, and ninth respectively in the 200 yard freestyle where they swam to ECAC qualifying times of 1:53.02, 1:55.60, and 1:57.41. Junior Corinne Rhodes finished third in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:07.31 in the 100 yard breaststroke, and sophomore Laura Sytnyk placed 11th in the 400 yard IM with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:42.29. The women's 200 yard medley relay also did well, with sophomore Liz Nugent, Rhodes, freshman Claire Nugent, and Colling placing fifth in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:50.86.

The men's team again dominated the pool with numerous first place finishes. The 200 yard medley relay composed of junior Heath Walden, senior Peter Nguyen, senior Michael Bayer, and junior Don Ball swam to first in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:38.81. The 800 yard freestyle relay also claimed gold, with Walden, freshman Chris Ball, junior Jon Hayden, and senior Kevin Walsh timing 7:10.82 for an ECAC qualifying time. Walsh, C. Ball, and Nguyen each had individual first place victories. Walsh placed first in the 400 IM in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:13.04, followed closely by Walden (4:19.71), and senior Brendan Griffin (4:23.21). C. Ball finished first in the 200 yard freestyle in an ECAC time of 1:45.86, followed closely by Hayden in third in a ECAC time of 1:47.01. Nguyen finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:02.57), followed by Griffin in second (1:02.94). Bayer claimed second in the 100 yard butterfly in an ECAC time of 53.16. Divers Doug Curran and Alan Fong finished one-two in the 3 meter diving, scoring 378.85 and 357.95 respectively.

Georgetown swimming and diving will wrap up the final day of the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday, February 19, 2005.
