Eight Join Women's Swimming & Diving Roster for 2017-18 Season

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Swimming & Diving Head Coach Jack Leavitt has announced that 17 members of the Class of 2021 will join the Hoyas for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Of the newcomers, eight will join the women's squad and nine will join the men's side. In this edition, GUHoyas.com will look at the eight student-athletes on the women's side.

The incoming freshmen on the women's team will join a squad that finished second at the 2017 BIG EAST Championships for the fourth-consecutive year. The new Hoyas comprise of six swimmers and two divers and hail from eight different states.

"We feel that this group of women is ready to come in and make an impact on day one," Leavitt said. "They are going to fit in great with our team and make us better in and out of the water."

Belinda Donohoe
Cambridge, Mass. / Concord Carlisle
Freestyle
Was a three-year member of the Shawmut Aquatic Club, serving as a team captain as a senior ... Was a two-time recipient of the club's Performance Award (2015-16) ... Set Shawmut's records in the long course and short course 50-yard freestyle ... Was a two-time Swimming All-American (2015-16).

Riley Fujioka
Los Altos, Calif. / Los Altos
Dive
Was a four-year member and four-year captain of the Los Altos High School swimming & diving team ... Named team MVP all four years and also earned All-America honors ... Was a four-time qualifier for California Central Coast Sectionals ... Also swam for the Stanford University Club Team ... In the classroom, was an AP Scholar.

Evie Mauze
St. Louis, Mo. / Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School
Freestyle / Backstroke
Was a two-year member of the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Named the 2014 Metro Swimmer of the Year after placing second in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at the Missouri State Championships ... Named MICDS Rookie of the Year in 2014 and team MVP in 2014 and 2017 ... Holds the school record in the 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard freestyle relay ... Helped lead MICDS to a 2014 conference championship ... Also swam for the Clayton Shaw Park (CSP) Swimming club team, where she was a three-time Scholastic All-American ... In the classroom, earned first honors in all 12 trimesters.

Was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Eastside High School swimming & diving team ... Was named Eastside's MVP as both a junior and a senior ... Set the school 1-meter diving record (446.45) at the 2016 state championship ... Helped lead Eastside to three-straight District 4 and Region 2 championships (2014-16) ... Individually, was a three-time District 4 champion (2014-16), a two-time Region 2 champion (2015-16) and the 2016 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state champion ... Was a member of the cross country team ... In the classroom, was an AP Scholar with honors.

Backstroke / Breaststroke
Was a four-year member of the Ronald Reagan High School swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Named team MVP all four years ... Also swam for Enfinity Aquatic Club ... In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society.

Phoebe Slaughter

Freestyle / IM
Was a three-year member of the Darien High School swimming & diving team ... Named a 2015 All-American in the 200-yard IM and the 400-yard freestyle relay ... Holds the Darien school record in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle ... Helped Darien win three-straight Connecticut state championships (2014-16) and the 2014 Connecticut State Open Championship ... Also swam for the Darien YMCA Piranhas ... In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society and was a three-time Connecticut Scholar-Athlete (2014-16).

Megan Smith
Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset
Breaststroke / Butterfly
Was a four-year member of the Manhasset High School swimming & diving team, serving as a team captain her senior year ... Earned all-division, all-county and All-Long Island honors all four years ... Was a state finalist all four years and was the recipient of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Senior Swimmer-Scholar Award and Scholarship ... Helped lead Manhasset to three-straight Division B championships (2014-16) and a second-place finish at the 2016 county championships ... Holds the Manhasset school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard medley relay and 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay ... Also swam for the Long Island Express Swim Team ... Was a three-time NCSA Junior National qualifier (2015-17) and a 2015 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American ... In the classroom, was an AP Scholar with distinction and a member of the National Honor Society.

Recipient of the 2015 Potomac Valley Swimming Scholar-Athlete Award ... In the classroom, was an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.
