WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team will host Catholic University on Saturday, December 3 at 1 p.m. at McCarthy Pool in Yates Fieldhouse for its final home meet of the 2011-12 season. Saturday will be the Hoyas Senior Day Meet as GU will recognize its nine seniors and their contributions to the program.
On the men's side, seniors Brad Crist, Trevor Cosmo, Kyle Chow, Chris Finnegan, Greg Germain and Robert Gokey will be swimming their last meet at McCarthy Pool, while Kathryn Berg, Kelly Donlin and Kristen Pratt will compete for the final time at home on the women's team.
"It is a bitter sweet feeling to have the seniors compete in their final home dual meet," Swimming and Diving Head Coach James Holder said. "With the entire second semester still to go the season is far from over with several dual meets and BIG EAST still to go for the seniors. We hope to send them off with a victory and fond memories of their home dual meets."
The dual meet with Catholic will be Georgetown's first since a strong team performance at the Bucknell Invitational, which saw the Hoyas place fifth in the men's and women's competition. Individually, Matthew Mandel set a Georgetown school record in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing in 20.99, to break Jens Brenninkmeyer's previous record of 21.02.
Lauren Opatrny broke her own record in the 200 individual medley, finishing in a time of 2:04.19, besting her previous record of 2:05.65.
