Georgetown Swimming & Diving Hosts Howard and Catholic at McCarthy Pool

Dec. 7, 2012

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team will host its first meet of the 2012-13 season at McCarthy Pool, when they take on crosstown rivals Howard University and Catholic University on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The meet will be the Hoyas last in 2012.

The Hoyas return to the pool after a strong showing against William & Mary last Saturday, its first meet following the Thanksgiving break. The men's team fell 115.5-84.5, while the women's team fell 138-62.

Georgetown has continued to develop under third year Head Coach James Holder, having broken four program records on the women's side during the early part of the season. Sophomore Casey Bandman set a program record in the 400 yard IM, while freshmen Maryellen Campbell and Nicole Tronolone each set new records to lead a strong freshmen class.

On the men's side, Paul Quincy has been a consistent scorer in the 500 yard freestyle and 1650 freestyle. Upperclassmen Christian Kilgore, Michael Ng and Matthew Mandel have been consistent scorers for the men's team, while freshmen Austin Evenson has been one of several bright spots for a strong freshmen class.
