2016: Appeared in 17 games on the mound, making nine starts ... Finished with a 3-5 record to go with a 4.58 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 57.0 innings pitched ... Threw a season-high 6.2 innings on March 22 at George Washington ... Registered a season-high four strikeouts on four different occasions ... Picked up the win after pitching six shutout innings with four strikeouts in his first-career start on March 1 against UMBC.
Prior to Georgetown: Cushing played three years of varsity baseball at Marcus High School, serving as the team captain his senior year … In 2015, Cushing went 6-2 with a 0.73 ERA on his way to being named the District 6-6A Pitcher of the Year, to the Texas Sports Writer’s Association Class 6-A All-State Team and the Dallas Morning News All-Area Team … He had nine wins as a junior and was named to the District 5-5A All-District First Team … In his high school’s record books, Cushing ranks first in career shutouts and no hitters, second in wins and innings pitched and third in complete games … He helped Marcus to an 85-26 record during his three seasons, including setting the program record for wins (32) in both 2013 and 2014 … Cushing was also a two-year member of the varsity football team.
