WASHINGTON - Georgetown University junior baseball player Corbin Blakey (Alpharetta, Ga./Centennial) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after leading the Hoyas to a series win against Rutgers this past weekend in games played at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md.
The Hoyas won two of three games against the Scarlet Knights and finished the weekend with a 13-15 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the BIG EAST. Wins on Friday (13-1) and Saturday (13-12 in 10 innings), respectively, ended a seven-game losing streak for the Blue & Gray.

In Friday's 13-1 win, Blakey went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored.
On Saturday, Blakey seemingly stepped up to the plate every time the Hoyas needed him and the junior came through. He finished the day going 4-for-6, with a home run, a double, three runs scored and four RBI.
Trailing 6-1 in the fourth inning, he hit a two-run home run to start a four-run inning as the Hoyas began their comeback. In the next inning, he hit an RBI double to tie the game at 6-all and came in on a two-run single from senior second baseman Andy Lentz (Farmington Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) to give GU an 8-6 lead. In the seventh, he singled and scored a run as the team's lead grew to 11-8.
After Rutgers came back and took a 12-11 lead, the Hoyas tied the game in the bottom of the 10th inning. Blakey stepped to the plate with runners on the corners and one out and delivered a single up the middle to compete his day.
Blakey is second on the team in batting this season with a .364 average (24-for-66) and has hit six doubles, with one triple, three home runs and 13 RBI. In conference games, he is batting .409 (9-for-22) with two doubles, one home run, five runs scored and four RBI.
